David Duke, former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard and a candidate for U.S. Senate, in front of Jackson Square. He said he was there to protect the monument along with a few others. Activist threatened to take down the statue of Andrew Jackson in the park today. Duke left the park before people on a "Take Em Down NOLA" march got to the park. The march was led by activists who are angry that city officials have not removed the four monuments honoring Confederates and others who fought for white supremacy that the city council voted to remove. The police barricaded the statue so no attempt to remove it was made.
