April, 29, 2010, Eroding coastline in Plaquemines Parish is southern Louisiana. Coastal erosion is an ongoing problem the state is facing. One football field size of land disappears from the state’s landmass every thirty minutes.
Hurricanes and the BP Oil spill have hasten the erosion. The State has a master plan for coastal restoration but lacks the money to carry it out.
